Chairman's Words

The tourism industry is a sunrise industry that concerns people's livelihood and wellbeing, a growing strategic pillar for national economy and a modern service industry to satisfy people’s needs. Its accelerated development is a must in order to adapt to people’s growing consumption demands and industrial restructuring, means a lot for creating jobs, increasing income, promoting the development of Central and West China and poverty alleviation in underdeveloped areas, guaranteeing stable economic growth and protecting the ecological environment, and plays a key role in improving people’s livelihood, fostering and practicing core socialist values.

Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, China’s tourism development has soared, with an expanding scale and improving industrial system. China has become one of the world’s major tourist destinations and is sharpening its tourism competency. Meanwhile, China is on the fast lane of industrialization, informatization, urbanization and agricultural modernization, and the integration with the above four aspects is a major guideline for tourism development. As the main part of the new technological revolution, informatization is exerting and will continue to exert profound and far-reaching influence on people’s production, daily life and social intercourse. Since tourism activities rely heavily on information, informatization will be the major technical support to foster the tourism industry into a modern service industry.

The CNTA website is a government-run website, a major step taken by CNTA to perform its responsibility of information disclosure, a key platform to release travel policies and guidelines, an important window to showcase the latest development of the tourism industry and a convenient channel to communicate government information on tourism. The website is active in meeting the requirements of building a service-oriented government and organ, has enhanced communication, interaction and services, introduced new forms of communication and information release, and tried to improve the presentation and communication efficiency and level.

We hope that with the application of new Internet technologies and continuous efforts of our staff, the CNTA website, as the online communication platform between CNTA, tourism businesses, tourists and the general public, will expand its influence, and win more recognition and support from counterparts and the public, in an effort to bridge CNTA with tourism departments of all levels in the country, counterparts at home and abroad, and tourists, enhance the society’s understanding of tourism and enable the society and the people to benefit more from tourism.
