Du Jiang Meets with Cambodian Commerce Minister
On January 4, CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang held a meeting with the visiting Cambodian delegation headed by Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on how to strengthen China-Cambodia tourism cooperation and exchange and expand the two-way tourism market.
Du welcomed the guests on behalf of CNTA chairman Li Jinzao and said, “China and Cambodian enjoy long lasting friendship. Tourism is not only a key part of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, but also an important channel to enhance mutual understanding. In November last year, a MoU on tourism cooperation was signed by Chinese and Cambodian tourism authorities, laying a solid foundation for strengthening bilateral tourism cooperation and exchange. We are pleased to see that you’ve published the White Paper on China Ready for Cambodia Tourism, developed purpose-specific marketing strategy, and continued to improve services and create a friendlier environment for Chinese tourists. This year marks the Year of China-ASEAN Tourism Cooperation. We should make full use of the opportunity, strengthen tourism promotion and cooperation and continue to expand two-way tourism exchange.”
Pan Sorasak noted China was an important source of tourists for Cambodia and he welcomed more Chinese tourists to his country. Cambodia is actively preparing for the China-Cambodia Business and Tourism Summit and plans to open more shopping centers in China and promote its tourism resources and investment opportunities so that business activities and tourism can better reinforce each other.
Also present at the meeting were senior officials from the CNTA Department of Tourism Promotion and International Liaison.
