(Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, January 4) Vice Premier Wang Yang chaired the 4th plenary session of the State Council Inter-Ministerial Conference on Tourism on January 4 in Beijing. He stressed that we shall firmly foster and earnestly implement the concepts of innovation, coordination, green development, opening up and sharing development, continue to seek steady progress, fully carry out the 13th Five-Year Plan for Tourism Development, advance institutional reform, enhance the capacity of integrated development, perfect the public service system, and give tourism a bigger role in stabilizing economic growth, adjusting the economic structure and improving people’s livelihood.
He continued by saying that, “The tourism industry has made incredible progress this year: the industry scale has expanded steadily, public services four tourists have been improved, it’s better regulated and it has produced significant economic and social benefits. But the tourism industry still faces prominent problems, ‘short boards’ and an arduous challenge of reform and development. We shall unswervingly push ahead the structural reform of the supply side, vigorously optimize the product structure, accelerate the development of holistic tourism and better meet tiered, diversified tourism demands. We shall also improve the modern tourism governance system, deepen the reform of the tourism administration system, market regulation system, scenic zone administration system, travel agency administration system and tour guide management system, reinforce integrated market regulation, improve the quality and increase the benefits of tourism development. Tourism is an integrated business and its reform and development shall adopt an integrated approach. We shall strengthen interdepartmental cooperation and policy alignment to form synergy for tourism reform and development.”
Wang also emphasized travel safety as the top priority during the Spring Festival travel rush. He demanded that local governments, tourism enterprises and regulatory authorities should dutifully perform their responsibilities, spot and eliminate all sorts of possible safety hazards and ensure the personal and property safety of travelers.
Before the meeting, Wang Yang visited CNTA to learn about the latest progress of the construction of the national monitoring and emergency command platform for the tourism industry.
