On February 20, CNTA vice chairman Li Shihong received the visiting delegation of Costa Crociere headed by its CEO Michael Thamm in Beijing. Li said, in just ten years, China has grown into the world’s fastest-growing market of cruise tourism. In 2016, the number of outbound cruise tours exceeded two million for the first time in China, up by 91% from the previous year. He added, CNTA is working with departments concerned in planning the distribution of the cruise industry, advancing infrastructure construction, launching demonstration projects, formulating visa, taxation and border policies in favor of cruise ports, and striving to cultivate cruise talents. He hoped that Costa Crociere would make the best of the opportunity in the Chinese market and actively cooperate with Chinese government departments and companies, to create a better cruise travel experience for Chinese passengers and contribute more to the Chinese cruise industry.

Agreeing with Li, Mr. Thamm said his company highly valued the Chinese market and would deepen cooperation with Chinese cruise tour operators including China State Shipbuilding Corporation, drive the development of Chinese cruise industrial chain in an all-round way, ship more overseas tourists to China and create more jobs.
