Du Jiang Meets with Chief Minister of Yangon Region and Chairman of Myanmar Tourism Federation
On March 3 local time, CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang held a meeting with chief minister of Yangon Region Phyo Min Thein and chairman of Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) U Yan Win, respectively, at Yangon, Myanmar, to discuss how to deepen tourism cooperation.
At the meeting with Mr. Phyo Min Thein, Du said, at the just-concluded China-Myanmar Forum on Tourism Cooperation, extensive consensus was reached on how to deepen bilateral tourism cooperation, laying a solid foundation for enriching the content of bilateral tourism cooperation and expanding bilateral tourism exchange. Tourism cooperation at the local level in was an integral part of bilateral tourism cooperation. China supported pragmatic local cooperation and welcomed Burmese tourists to China. He hoped that Yangon would leverage its own strength, continue to improve tourist services and create a safe, convenient environment for Chinese tourists.
Mr. Phyo Min Thein introduced actions the city took to improve tourist infrastructure and develop tourism resources, expressed the interest in tourism cooperation with Yunnan and learning from the Chinese tourism industry, and welcomed more Chinese tourists to Myanmar.
The meeting with U Yan Win touched on issues of common interest such as tourism promotion, talent training and tourist insurance, etc. Du said, China-Myanmar tourism cooperation enjoyed tremendous potentials, and China supported China Tourism Association to establish working relations with MTF to promote cross-border business cooperation.
During his stay in Yangon, Du also met chairman of Yangon Heritage Trust U Thant Myint. The two exchanged views on the protection and tourism development of historical and cultural heritage. Other attendees to the meetings included senior officials from CNTA Department of Tourism Promotion and International Liaison, China Tourism Academy and China Tourism Association.
