Shenyang Botanical Garden

Shenyang Botanical Garden located in the eastern suburbs of Shenyang, 10 kilometers away from the urban areas, was built in 1959, covering an area of 189 hectares. The park gives priority to gathering and demonstrating the plant resources of the Northeast, Northwest, North China and Inner Mongolia. More than 10 specialized botanical gardens have been built. Over 400 species of woody plants and over 400 species of herbaceous plants in open field as well as over 400 species of greenhouse plants have been planted in the garden, so that it now has become a botanical garden with the most collection of plant species in the Northeast.

Large-scale annual flower show is also held in the garden, such as the Tulip Show on May Day, the Peony Show on June 1^st, the exhibition of lily on July 1^st and the exhibition of ground cover chrysanthemum on November 1^st. These are scenes rarely seen in Shenyang.

In addition, more than 50 iron chain bridges are built over the lake with different styles, and it has become an item for enthusiastic visitors to come here to visit.

The items such as the unique children's park and the thrilling and stimulating rock climbing are very impressive for the young people to linger on and enjoy without thinking of going home. All these items have received national patents.

The park also has been evaluated as one the ten popular science bases and one of the 15 major scenic spots in Shengyang as well as one of the best 50 tourist attractions in Liaoning Province. On May 8, 2007, Shenyang Botanical Garden was officially approved by the National Tourism Administration to be the national AAAAA scenic area.

Now this place has increasingly become a popular scenic resort.
