The Palace Museum

The Palace Museum, the world's largest existing and the most complete ancient Building Complex, is also a precious cultural heritage of mankind. There have been 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties to govern and live here.

It currently has the world's largest and most complete preservation as well as the most exquisite built ancient buildings complex of palaces, with 1,500,000 books, historical relics and art treasures, and therefore gets the famous name of the Palace Musemuse.

The Palace Museum, historically and artistically one of the most comprehensive Chinese museums, was established on October 10, 1925 on the foundation of the palace that was the ritual center of two dynasties, the Ming and the Qing, and their collections of treasures. The collection of culture relics were mainly from the old stock of the palaces of the Qing Dynasty.

Altogether there are two Palace Museums, the Beijing Palace Museum and a rival Taipei Palace Museum, both of which are world-renowned tourist destination, besides, there is the Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum, also known as Shenyang Palace. Generally the Beijing Palace Museum is abbreviated as the Place Museum.
