In Aug. 2008, China received 10,762,400 inbound travelers, down 6.97% than last year. They included 1,909,000 foreigners, down 20.33% than last year. According to estimation, during this month, the whole country realized total tourist (foreign exchange) revenue of US$3.198 billion, down 15.28% than last year.
The total number of inbound travelers during Jan. – Aug. was 86,733,400, up 0.35% than last year. They included 16,469,400 foreigners, a decrease of 2.00%. According to estimation, during the eight months, the whole country realized total tourist (foreign exchange) revenue of US$26.686 billion, down 2.21% than last year.
In Sept. 2008, the number of outbound travelers of Chinese citizens was 4,162,200, up 3.37% than last year. The top ten countries and regions as the first outbound stations in terms of number of travelers are: Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, the United States, Russia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia in that order. From Jan. to Aug. the total number of outbound travelers of Chinese citizens was 30,674,200, up 15.54% than last year.
