In Sept. 2008, China received 10,564,000 inbound travelers, down 5.94% than last year. They included 1,883,300 foreigners, down 15.10% than last year. According to estimation, during this month, the whole country realized total tourist (foreign exchange) revenue of US$3.142 billion, down 11.36% than last year.
The total number of inbound travelers during Jan. – Sept. was 97,297,400, down 0.37% than last year. They included 18,352,700 person times, a decrease of 3.53%. According to estimation, during the nine months, the whole country realized total tourist (foreign exchange) revenue of US$29.828 billion, down 3.26% than last year.
In Sept. 2008, the number of outbound travelers of Chinese citizens was 3,717,500, up 9.04% than last year. From Jan. to Sept. the total number of outbound travelers of Chinese citizens was 34,391,800, up 14.80% than last year.
In 2008, a series of serious natural disasters and sudden incidents in China has affected to some extent the development of tourism; and the global financial crisis triggered by the subprime crisis in the United States has produced further detrimental effect on the tourism demand, especially the inbound tourism demand.
