Shao Qiwei met Hong Kong Delegation participating in China International Tourism Trade Fair 2009

On November 18th, Shao Qiwei (Chairman of China National Tourism Administration) met Commissioner Margaret Fong of Hong Kong Tourism Commission and other distinguished guests of Hong Kong Delegation participating in China International Tourism Trade Fair 2009 in Kunming. Two sides exchanged views on further promote the development of tourism industry in Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong.
Shao Qiwei first extended welcome for the arrival of the delegation headed by Margaret Fong. After a brief introduction for tourism development situation of Mainland China, Shao Qiwei said China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) always pays attention to tourism exchanges and cooperation between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Through the establishment of tourism cooperation consultation mechanism for both Mainland China and Hong Kong, close contacts of both tourism sectors have been strengthened. In the future, tourism industry in Mainland China and Hong Kong should not only cooperate with focus on markets and tourist sources, but also carry out in-depth cooperation in the tourism industrialization.
Margaret Fong thanked for the supports and help rendered by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) for tourism development of Hong Kong. She said that the implementation of the policy deregulating Mainland China residents’ "individual visit" in Hong Kong and the launching of cruise tourism with Hong Kong as a homeport and other tourism projects, tourism industry of Hong Kong has been endowed with new vitalities and business opportunities.
The heads of relevant departments and offices in China National Tourism Administration, James Tien (Chairman of Hong Kong Tourism Board) and Ronnie Ho JP (Chairman of Hong Kong Travel Industry Council) attended the interview.
