Wang Yang Chairs the Meeting with Model Workers in the Tourism Industry

Wang Yang: To Vigorously Promote the Spirit of Model Works, and Gather Strong Positive Energy for the Reform and Development of the Tourism Industry

(December 14) Vice Premiere Wang Yang has recently presided over a meeting with representatives of model workers in the tourism industry. He stressed, “Our tourism industry is at the golden stage of development but at the same time troubled with prominent conflicts, and its reform and development presents an arduous, challenging task. We shall earnestly implement the decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, award individuals with outstanding performance, advocate and carry forward positive energy, further stimulate the enthusiasm and creativity of all tourism professionals and elevate tourism development to a new high.”

He continued, “The past five years have seen remarkable progress and dramatic changes in the Chinese tourism industry which is a forerunner in our national economic construction and plays an increasing role in stabilizing economic growth, adjusting the economic structure and improving people’s livelihood.”

He also emphasized the role of role models. “We shall vigorously promote the spirit of model workers, motivate cadres and employees alike to learn from them, pursue excellence, be enterprising and devoted to their job, and contribute to the reform and development of the tourism industry. We shall shift from the resource driven to the innovation driven development mode so as to improve the quality of tourism services and generate more benefits. We shall firmly bear in mind that green mountains and clean water are an inexhaustible source of treasure, and strive to increase the tourism value of green ecology; carry out poverty alleviation programs and lift as many impoverished households as possible out of poverty through tourism development; vigorously regulate the tourism market, and form law-based, fine and standardized tourism regulation; strengthen capacity building of tourism professionals, and foster a reasonably structured, high-caliber, enterprising and creative team of leaders and specialists for tourism companies to better adapt to the era of mass tourism.”

Before the meeting, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and CNTA co-awarded model units, model workers and other individuals with outstanding performance in the tourism industry.
