Panda in Rome to Lure Tourists to China
On January 28, 2017, on the eve of the Chinese Spring Festival, the “Beautiful China, More than Pandas” global tourism marketing campaign visited the landmark Piazza del Popolo in Rome, Italy, with the slogan “China beyond imagination”, thanks to the efforts of CNTA office in Rome.
At the site, Roman travel agencies operating tours to China were invited to display and distribute brochures, introduce Chinese tourism products and answer questions from the audience. As to public interaction, a large-sized device was ready to take photos of the audience either with the cute walking panda mascot, or with the image of the Great Wall, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower or many other tourist attractions in China. Then the audience could share these photos with their families and friends online or offline. The event took place on a weekend and attracted a large crowd, including local residents and international tourists. In just four hours, more than 10,000 copies of brochures were given out.
“Beautiful China, More than Pandas” is a tourism marketing brand launched by CNTA. It debuted in Berlin, Germany in September 2016 and will travel to 100 cities in 50 countries around the globe. During the two months when it landed in Italy, CNTA office in Rome intensely promoted Chinese tourism products by various means: it hosted four public activities in Milan, Turin, Florence and Rome in succession, two business promotion events in Milan and Rome, respectively, and then during the Chinese Spring Festival, aired commercials and put up ads at busy metro stations in these two cities, attracting much attention from local residents and tourists.
