Li Jinzao Meets Guests of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation

On May 15, CNTA Chairman Li Jinzao met with tourism ministers from some countries and heads of some international organizations who had come for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF). Vice Chairman Du Jiang attended the meeting.

Li Jinzao extended warm welcome to the tourism ministers and heads of international organizations who had come for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. He said that the opening ceremony of the BRF was held in Beijing yesterday and Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech which was widely acknowledged. In the Belt and Road Initiative, tourism is the best way to achieve people-to-people communication and a pioneer for interconnectivity. By promoting tourism, we will enhance cultural exchanges and mutual learning between people of the various countries along the Belt and Road, build mutual trust, and erect the bridge of friendship and cooperation.

UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai said that he was very glad to attend the BRF together with international peers in the tourism industry, fully experience the Chinese civilization and its openness and inclusiveness. Tourism is closely related to the essence of the Silk Road spirit and tourism will help people from relevant countries to communicate and achieved the shared goad of mutual understanding, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation.

Also present at the meeting were UNWTO Executive Director Zhu Shanzhong, Philippine Tourism Minister Wanda Corazon Teo, Peruvian Minister of Foreign Commerce and Tourism Eduardo Ferreyros, Timor-Leste Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, Bahrain Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, South Pacific Tourism Organization Chief Executive Christopher Cocker, Pacific Asia Travel Association CEO and Strategic Advisor John M Koldowski, World Tourism Cities Federation Vice Chairman Ernest Wooden Jr., World Travel and Tourism Council Executive Director Nigel David, China Tourism Association President Duan Qiang, Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development Director General Song Yu, and officials from relevant departments of CNTA.
